We sell organic hand roasted coffee and conventional machine roasted organic coffee's. Our coffee comes from small family farms in Latin America and beyond.
Mendo Maté is very proud to introduce our NEW line of all organic hand-roasted coffee. The Escondido Blend is a first for Mendo Maté and a first for the United States. Through our travels in Mexico we noticed a trend of indigenous women hand roasting coffees, both in the tropical low lands and as high up as the famed towns of San José del Pacifico and Miahuatlan in the mountains of Oaxaca. Our Mendo Maté EarthSEARCH Team quickly established a local production-line with 4 local family's in the area.
The coffee is grown on plots of land that are cultivated by family members only accessible by traveling single file along small mountain paths in very steep rugged terrain. After about 5 hrs. (or 5 shots of Mescal) you reach these incredible plots of organic coffee. The plants are stocky at the base with a distinct organic shape and reddish purple berries. Each plant is strictly cared for by hand using only natural organic and bio-dynamic fertilizers. Because there
are no vehicles this creates new production lines that are totally created without machines of any kind. The berries are hand picked, packed and carried down the mountain to be dried and roasted.
The organic beans are then hand sifted and hand toasted to various roasts and flavors from other local products, such as local Kakaw (chocolate). Once the coffee has been hand roasted it is once more checked for purity, flavor, color, bean uniqueness and aroma before being packed into our bio-degradable bags to preserve freshness.
We believe this is a very special product and has the potential to make large changes in the world.
Mendo Maté sell machine or conventionally roasted organic coffee that we roast using "Jet Roasters". Our blends are imported from small family farms and coops from around the world and then roasted. These organic coffee blends are medium to dark roast and blends there of. Each pound of coffee is sorted for quality of bean and then selected for roasting.
